About PROJECT Lunch Box
When I was younger, growing up on the outskirts of Manhattan, my dad would always take me into the city for our weekend outings. At a young age I remember being confused about the people we’d pass on the sidewalk that seemingly lived there and would often ask for money.
I always remember my dad saying he said he would never give them money because he feared most of them would spend it on things that would only be more detrimental to themselves. He would, however, offer some a sandwich and a cup of coffee every so often.
In a recent attempt to create something that could benefit the better good, I came up with an idea to make sandwiches and hand them out to as many homeless people on the streets of New York City as I could.
Naturally, the idea started to grow. I thought if I could gather a team of people who wanted to help, we could make upwards of 100 sandwiches and put them in recycled paper bags, along with a bottle of water and a bag of chips for each. Then we’d take to the streets and feed as many homeless people as we could. Thus was born, PROJECT Lunch Box.
It’s a small thing to accomplish in a city like New York, but together as PROJECT Lunch Box, we can at least make one meal better and safer for someone in a less fortunate situation than us.
